Sanpapié is touring the UK next November with the show BOH presented to critical acclaim last year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The Company accompanies their performances with workshops in order to bring their personal way of working – fusing together music, dance, and words – to schools, colleges and venues
The Company is proposing two different options:
-Games Area Workshops (for young people with dance experience)
-Contemporary Dance Workshops (for children with little or no dance experience)
GAMES AREA
As the name says, GAMES AREA is a place dedicated to people involved in playing a game. With Sanpapié, the game is telling a story that cannot be told with words, just through movement. All workshop participants create the story together, catching suggestions given by the live music, capturing feedback and input from each other, listening to personal feelings strictly connected to their body’s own emotions.
During the workshop the three company members lead participants in the three different languages of the company’s signature performance style: dance, drama, and music.
In GAMES AREA the Company offers participants an opportunity to experiment directly “in their own skin” to show how people can work when their body turns into a pen that writes down their personal narration.
Games Area workshops are delivered with dancer/choreographer Lara Guidetti, playwright and dramatist Sarah Chiarcos, and musician Marcello Gori.
It’s a methodological workshop and requires participants to have experience in dance and an interest in professional dance performance and theatre.
Participants should be over 16.
Contemporary Dance Workshops
Dedicated to children (7-14 y.o.) with some, little, or no dance experience Sanpapié’s Contemporary Dance Workshops offer an opportunity to experience this artform first-hand, and for the group to work together to create a short performance at the end.
The workshop is lead by Lara Guidetti and the musician Marcello Gori, following a modern perspective.
Lara works with the children on improvisation and the language of movement in fun and engaging ways in order to create a composition of dance frames, with the aim of getting children closer to the world of dance, movement, and physical theatre.
Workshop Fees
Games Area with three artists: £450 a full day (4 hrs plus lunch break). [Fee for a 3-day residency: £1100]
Children’s Workshop with two artists: £300 a full day (4 hrs plus lunch break) [Fee for a 2 day residency £500]
